How to Stop Ignoring Your Intuition In Business
Tune in for practical tools and intuitive techniques to start trusting your gut at the office. We’re talking entrepreneurial intuition, imposter syndrome, and what the inner voice of your business has been trying to tell you.
It’s the last week of summer break here! I sat down to record this episode in a rare moment of quiet, with our house completely empty because our nanny took all three kids on an adventure.
Last week I said I was just getting into my groove with summer, but I’m also starting to be over it! Maybe I’m just ready for this next part of the season: when we return to the structure of school schedules, but still have until the Autumnal Equinox on September 22 to soak up the energies of summer.

Do you have entrepreneurial intuition? Yes.
This is for all my business owners, corporate career girlies, and those of you with an entrepreneurial spirit. I’m making an argument for inviting imagination and intuition to the table. We’re talking about Entrepreneurial Intuition: what it is, why it’s important, plus techniques and tools to activate it.
Initially, this topic came up through my partnership with Elizabeth Wimer, a professor at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. Specifically for her class on imagination, creative problem-solving, and entrepreneurship. Last year, I brought in the concepts of intuition and entrepreneurial vision boarding. This year, we’re adding decision-making and clarity to the conversation.
This time of year is one of change. If you’re craving a shift in your career, wanting more meaning in your work without sacrificing income or flexibility, or you’re just excited to tap in to that fresh focus that back-to-school-season brings, it’s my goal to help you see where you’re already using intuition in business and feel empowered to access it more moving forward.
Do woo and magic belong in business? Yes.
There’s so much in science, math, medicine, and business that was considered “woo” before it was considered fact, or at least mainstream. Mindfulness and meditation were once totally fringe, but are now widely offered in corporate wellness programs.
Magic is serendipity, synchronicity, and unexpected success. It’s when your ideal client finds out about your work through some random rabbit hole and becomes your biggest fan.
More examples of magic: the internet, electricity, your unique perspective on the world.
Bring intuition to work with this simple practice
Intuition is your inner knowing. When you start listening to your intuition, you will feel less overwhelmed and more aligned in your work and daily life.
Intuition can arise without effort: a gut feeling, a spark of inspiration, or a little whisper. You can also cultivate your connection and access it intentionally.
Turn up the volume on intuition and mute the noise, anxiety, and fears holding you back in business:
Turn your focus to the place inside where you've felt intuition before
Listen to your quiet knowing: intuition might show up as words, images, sensations, or even a peaceful sense of stillness
Trust with curiosity, play with acting on what you receive
Listen to the inner voice of your business
Instead of believing you’re the only person who makes something happen, tuning into the inner voice of your work helps activate your entrepreneurial intuition. It opens the door to new ways to solve problems.
Shift your perspective from acting, making, and doing to receiving so you can understand what your business wants. Imagine having a conversation with your business.
See yourself sitting with the energy of your business over coffee. Ask questions, be creative, and let this feel fun!
Turn your business goals into reality with visualization
A Harvard Business Review article titled, To Reach Your Goals Make a Mental Movie, shares this quote from Warren Bennis, “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.”
The article goes on to explain, “There is now evidence that imagining a movement will stimulate the movement areas in the brain.”
“In addition to helping to focus your attention by stimulating attentional networks in the brain, imagery can actually help your brain to map your path to your goal outside of conscious awareness. Imagining activates brain regions that can unconsciously map your path to success.”
Put more simply, visualization (through imagination) activates the parts of your brain that help you achieve them, even when you’re not conscious of the process.
Techniques for more entrepreneurial intuition
Visualization: invite past, present, future to solve problems
Goal Setting: align with curiosity and intuition
Marketing: connect with your business’s inner voice
Opportunity: view “no” as clarity for next steps
