How Self-Care Saved the Holidays

The Holidays Used to Really Stress Me Out

The holiday season was extremely stressful in my early days of motherhood. When my two oldest children were two-and-under, I felt pulled in so many directions. ⁣There was the internal pressure I put on myself to make magical memories for my children. And then the external pressure of traveling to family and all the little hiccups that come from those kinds of adventures.⁣

I kept spreadsheets (color-coded, of course!) of the gifts we gave. I curated wish lists to send all the grandparents. And I had a long list of traditions we had to do!⁣

It was so much. Too much. And it made it hard for me to enjoy the season, which was sad because I love this time of year.⁣

The One Self-Care Habit that Saved My Holiday Season

Listening to my intuition saved me. And it helped me learn how to prioritize what matters most. My inner voice helped me loosen my grip on the craziness while keeping true to who I am.

I still keep a list of the things I've purchased. I still share gift ideas with the grandparents. And now I have a handful of traditions that I love keeping year after year.

The result of listening to my intuition is that I stress less and breathe easier. My mood is much lighter. I'm more connected to the spirit of the season and actually enjoying this time of year.

⁣You’re Not Alone in Your Holiday Stress and Struggles

So, yeah. This season can be a lot. Maybe there’s no stopping that. Instead of letting the holidays take over your life, try something new. Give yourself moments to pause, breathe, and connect with your intuition.⁣
