Subtle September

Posted by Kaileen Elise on September 1st, 2010

The pursuit, even of the best things,
ought to be calm and tranquil.
(Marcus Tullius Cicero)

September is here and I’m tempted to make big sweeping declarations about mega life-altering goals. As a planner, I tend to derive more pleasure from list-making than actual task-completion.

This month, I’m trying something out of my comfort zone.

Rather than bite off more than I can chew by…

  • writing 750 words daily (so intriguing!)
  • going mondo beyondo with my dreams (a future to-do!)
  • blogging my way (looks delightful!)

…my goal is to seek subtlety this September.

I plan on revisiting goals I’ve set throughout the year, instead of creating new challenges to tackle. I intend to speak mindfully, drink tea, practice yoga and read a few good books.

September feels like a month to remember, and it’s just getting started.

  1. Very cool :) I was so tempted to join in on the 750 words a day challenge, but with a book to promote, blog to write, & 4 college courses … doing the challenge would be biting off more than I could chew (haha).

Very eager to hear about the Blogging My Way class – been wanting to take it since the 1st, but haven’t found the right timing/funds.

  2. Thanks for sharing these awesome links will def be doing the 750 words daily as I dislike writing my morning pages in a notebook for anyone to find!
    Loving the blog btw! :)

  3. I think a Subtle September sounds like a great idea. I’ve been taking on a little too much lately – trying to accomplish too many things at once, fix too many things all simultaneously – and I think it’s time to relax for a while.

By the way, I had my very first pumpkin spice latte yesterday. What? I know. Crazy. And it was DELICIOUS. There will definitely be more of those this month, as well. :)

  4. Love this idea! I always bite off more than I can chew… I guess I function better at break-neck speeds. I am trying to teach myself how to be comfortable in the slow times. Your blog is fantastic — thanks so much for sharing!

  5. I’ll see you at ‘blogging my way’…I can’t wait for it to start.
I am so looking forward to fall and drinking tea and practicing yoga.

  6. good luck in your efforts — it’s going to be a busy and fulfilling september, I’m sure of it!

  7. I also have more fun making lists rather than taking action. Love this idea.
