Bits of Bliss

When you get to the end of the rope, tie a knot and hang on.
(Franklin D Roosevelt)

I know I’m not the only person who has thrown her normal routines out the window since Thanksgiving. It was a wonderful holiday and the food turned out perfect, but a weekend spent knee-deep in stuffing really got me off track. Since then, I’ve been focused on Christmas gifts and wrapping materials in preparation for my weekend of holiday cheer (more details to come).

It’s fortunate you’re reading this from the comfort and safety of your own surroundings—instead of from the disastrous conditions of my apartment. There are clothes, presents and assorted craft projects strewn about these 720 square feet as if a hurricane blew through town last night.

Pressing the reset button is sometimes the best solution. If you’re living in a similar state of disaster, I welcome you to join me in reclaiming your sanity—clean, organize, go grocery shopping, cook, journal, read, breathe or bathe—do whatever it takes to grasp serenity this holiday season.

In the meantime, here’s some bits of bliss to distract you from the towels on your bathroom floor…

  1. I seriously need to organize parts of my house. I know that I am going to get so annoyed when I reach home and am greeted by the mess in my room.
Good luck with getting stuff organized and reclaiming your space/sanity!!

  2. love the picture, btw

  3. i will certainly join you in reclaiming my sanity and getting it together :) Resent button pushed. And i love all your finds from the internet. Thanks for sharing them!

  4. Funny you should mention this. I just had a friend visiting for a week and the days leading to her arrival had me sorting out closets in the living/dining/kitchen areas and finding homes for long-lost (i.e. buried!) objects. For my friend’s entire visit, she kept saying “you are so organized! I can find EVERYTHING I need.”

I thought it was a bit of her chicness that she left behind because this week I’ve felt so on top of things..but really, it’s because of some hard work organizing and cleaning is easier when items have homes.

Now if only my bedroom and clothes closet could be so organized. *sigh*

  5. Kaileen, i wish i could bottle up some of your positive outlook- even as you look at a messy apartment. :)

I loved your links! and the way you outlined it (fancy that i felt like Rock Star being a link… MADE MY DAY and just so you know… i meant every word. THANK YOU for being my Sharing Sunday!). The quotes- I’m always a huge fan of those, and inspirational ones? even better!

I’m not much of a cook but those oreo cookies look DELISH.

    xoxo
